Thank you for taking an interest in this developing blog about the art and science of people.
Ricochet Ink is a blog that bridges contemporary research in consumer behaviour and consumer culture with practical implications for marketers, product managers, policy makers and consumer theory enthusiasts. These are early days for RI and there's a good chance you are here because you know me :)
So I think a great place to start would be to read about the vision for the blog.
In the upcoming newsletter editions you can expect to find three variations - one, I intend to do summaries of essays and books that are considered foundational to the areas of consumer theory. Marketing for better or for worse is a multi-disciplinary field that draws upon psychology, sociology, anthropology, philosophy and economics. Until recently these fields have often been studied in isolation. Not anymore. Behavioural science and it's application to both product and marketing has drawn upon several of these all at once. Digital platforms have made it necessary that not only should marketing and product be in the same shoes, but in fact that they share the very same shoe. This has necessiated a flourishing interest in these diverse fields and a deeper understanding of the human behind the consumer is emerging.
The second type of newsletter edition will be a round-up of research articles and academic papers. I will take care to choose papers that have been the basis of frameworks and vocabulary that have clarified meaning and advanced our understanding of marketplaces and society. These will occasionally also be notes on methodology. Finally, the third type of edition will be opinion pieces where I think aloud and invite you to share your thoughts too! Do consider writing in.
Eventually I hope to include live case studies, ongoing research, guest posts from my network of practitioners and co-workers and opportunities to collaborate on research projects.

The section with foundational text summaries is available for free. These will always be free, far too many people can benefit from reading these and far too little do. The paid edition of the newsletter expands on these texts, combines the insights from prior academic research with contemporary questions of brand positioning, marketing communication, product and network design. It is also the community of enthusiasts who care about the latest research in marketing in a deeply personal way and want to build a muscle for it in their own organisations. Consider subscribing if, like me, you are from Curiousville :)
